About Kathleen Marie Love
For over a decade, Kathleen Love has studied trauma and it’s relationship with chronic anxiety, depression, and eating disorders. She works from the perspective that symptoms and behaviors are management strategies for coping with the underlying symptoms of early developmental trauma.
Kathleen Love is a Licensed Professional Counselor and Somatic Practitioner. Her training includes a masters degree in Counseling Psychology, completion the Somatic Experiencing Trauma training, completion of several SE Touch Trainings and SE Touch Trainings for early trauma. In addition, she is an active member of AED (Academy for Eating Disorders) where she participates in a special interest group on trauma and eating disorders.
She studies with Peter Levine (founder of Somatic Experiencing), Kathy Kain (Researcher and Expert on Early Developmental Trauma in Berkley , CA ), and Stephen Terrell (Expert in Early Developmental Trauma in Austin , Texas ).
Her approach is a psycho-somatic. Treatment goals are targeted at healing early developmental trauma and attachment ruptures. In doing so, a roadmap for physiological regulation is built. With physiological regulation, management strategies such as eating disorders, addictions, OCD behaviors, etc, lesson and dissolve and the perception of the body shifts from a source of fear and disgust, to a safe haven.
She is a member of AED (Academy for Eating Disorders) and participates in a special interest group on trauma.
In addition to her private practice, she assists in Somatic Experiencing Trauma Institute trainings in California , Oregon, and Washington .
She has 2 amazing children, whom are a result of my own healing journey and whom continue to challenge and inspire her on a daily basis to learn more about the healing from developmental trauma.
