About Kate Gotelli

Kate Gotelli, LCSW, SEP is a psychotherapist and owner of her solo practice, Mindful Awakening, PLLC in Chapel Hill. With clinical experience in behavioral healthcare services since 1996, Kate specializes in psychotherapy with adults and groups.  Her interests focus on the treatment and resolution of interpersonal, developmental and shock trauma and PTSD; shame resilience; wholehearted living; perinatal mood and anxiety disorders; coping with life transitions; relationship wellness; sexual orientation issues. Kate is a Certified Therapist in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing through EMDR International Association and draws from a variety of approaches, including psychodynamic, mindfulness-based, cognitive-behavioral, interpersonal, experiential, and body-centered therapies. Kate is also a Certified Daring Way(TM) Facilitator and Rising Strong(TM) Facilitator who offers individual sessions, 8-week groups and weekend intensives exploring issues around vulnerability, courage, worthiness and shame.  As an adjunct faculty member at UNC-Chapel Hill's School of Social Work, she taught at the graduate level on trauma and violence, and as a training consultant to the SSW and Area Health Education Centers, she continues to provide trainings and workshops for clinicians on various topics including trauma, resilience, adult survivors of childhood sexual abuse, and anger management. She has also presented to various community groups on mindful parenting, healthy relationships, HIV/AIDS, and women's wellness.
