About Michelle Hansel

At different thresholds in our lives we may find ourselves paralyzed and unable to achieve our goals or find our passion leading to true fulfillment within. Therapy is a process whereby we travel through the different aspects of ourselves and understand the feelings we have and where they developed from an early attachment level. It is also a method to resolve trauma while learning to connect more deeply with ourselves and others. My approach specifically emphasizes the use of the body and the mind together connecting through the nervous system, allowing for self-awareness, insight and empowerment to help people lead more gratifying lives. My goal is to provide a safe non-judgemental yet collaborative space to achieve these results.I commonly work with individuals and couples who are experiencing anxiety, depression, PTSD, resolution of childhood abuse and sexual abuse, loss and grief, relationship concerns, addictions, and any other type of trauma.I also specialize in PACT*, Psychobiological approach to couple therapy, which is an emotional focused treatment that integrates neurobiology and attachment therory - helping couples to understand longstanding patterns, attachment styles and two nervous systems interacting with one another.I completed coursework in CLinical Psychology PhD Program @ Pacifica Graduate Institute, Santa Barbara, Ca.I am currently working on a Dissertation in the field of trauma, researching the effectiveness of employing the somactic therapy along with traditional psychoanalytic therapy in extreme cases of trauma.
