About Peter J. Taylor
ABOUT MY WORK: I have worked a great deal with gay men and lesbians; those suffering from the effects of past or current trauma or illness; creative artists; and those seeking greater peace, meaning, and energy in their lives. I find that every psychotherapy relationship develops its particular way of working together, certainly drawing on my professional training and experience, but always evolving into a unique relationship that attends to the client's lived experience, resolving the effect of traumas, losses, and misattunements, on the one hand, and deepening strengths, resilience, and capacities for healthy attachment, on the other.
ABOUT ME: I am a clinical psychologist, a Certified Group Psychotherapist and Fellow of the American Group Psychotherapy Society, and a Somatic Experiencing Practitioner with offices in Manhattan and Briarcliff Manor (Westchester County), NY. I have been certified as a Consultant in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), I am Past-President of the Eastern Group Psychotherapy Society, and I'm a past Secretary and acting Chair of the Board of Directors of the Somatic Experiencing Trauma Institute. I have assisted at more than 35 SE trainings (in Chicago, Montreal, Miami, Southbury [CT], Garrison [NY], San Diego, Petaluma [CA], and Victoria (BC), and I am approved as a session provider and individual case consultation provider for SE training participants at all levels and a group case consultation provider at the Beginning level. Roger Saint-Laurent and I are the developers of SE-Informed Group Psychotherapy and offer both ongoing training groups and stand-alone presentations on it locally, nationally, and internationally.
