About Ilene Blaisch, LCSW
I have been a psychotherapist (Licensed Clinical Social Worker) for over 35 years in a diverse range of settings including private practice, universities, veterans services, grief groups and women's centers. Over the last five years I have studied and incorporated Somatic Experiencing work into my practice. I primarily work with developmental and relationship trauma and find that working with one's physical body experience (in addition to a more traditional talk therapy approach) opens an opportunity for help in discharging "bound" energy which in turn further facilitates the healing process. I am also a Beginning year approved provider for SE students.
Additionally I am a certified coach and licensed re-seller for the Smovey VIBRO-swing System, a product I have found to be very useful in this work. The Smovey rings are a tool that many Somatic Experiencing Practitioners use to help clients begin to develop awareness of internal sensations. The swinging motion of the rings create a vibrational frequency which most people find to be pleasant and touching into this "felt sense" helps one's nervous system regulate states related to both shut down and anxious arousal. I am happy to provide more information for anyone interested.
