About Adelina Lin Hills, MFT, SEP
After having been a traditional talk psychotherapist for several years, I recognized the importance of connecting body, mind, and spirit for effective healing. The body retains life memories that the cerebral (conscious) brain may have forgotten. Impacts from life stresses are stored throughout the body and frequently reside as unconscious habits that affect either our physical health, our emotional health, or both. Somatic Experiencing (SE) addressed these body (somatic) stresses. While the Somatic Experiencing approach primarily focuses on extreme life stresses we call trauma, it is not limited to trauma work. People experience anxiety, stress and physical pain at the sub-trauma level that can also benefit greatly from SE work. Being both a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (California BBS MFC #44946) and trained in SE I can provide the proper balance between psychotherapeutic and somatic approaches. I can provide SE work either with or without touch, whichever the client prefers.Having been severely injured in an auto accident as a child, I am sensitive to both the physical and emotional difficulties of life and can provide compassionate care that addressed both aspects.
