About Shai Lavie
Shai Lavie, M.A., is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in private practice in San Rafael, CA, working with adults, teens, couples, and families. In addition to being certified in the Somatic Experiencing method of trauma resolution, he is a Certified Hakomi Therapist, and a Hakomi Trainer on the faculty of the Hakomi Institute of California. He teaches at Sofia University (formerly the Institute for Transpersonal Psychology), and he has taught in the Mindfulness and Compassion Certificate Program at California Institute of Integral Studies, and at JFK University. Shai has conducted numerous trainings at dozens of local agencies, universities, and counseling centers, and is also on the faculty of Marin Mindfulness Institute. Shai also leads transformational groups with adults and for many years led therapeutic groups in Bay Area high schools, as well as numerous wilderness-based Rites of Passage programs. Shai has been practicing Vipassana meditation for over 25 years and for many years taught meditation in the Teen and Family Program at Spirit Rock Meditation Center. Shai's work is about helping people experience themselves and their relationships in ways that feel more clear, free, and alive. "Ultimately, we all want the experience of living in a way that feels closest to the essence of who we are. This way of living can be tremendously satisfying, creative, and joyful.
