About Alisha Musicant

In addition to somatic experiencing, my orientation to healing is informed by training in insight meditation as well as being a student of the Diamond Approach, a school of spiritual development and self inquiry.  I have also been influenced by biodynamic craniosacral therapy and by the pre & perinatal work of Ray Castellino.

I am a registered nurse and work part-time at Emanuel Legacy Hospital with moms and babies in the post-partum period in the family birth center.  I am also a Licensed Massage Therapist.  Between 2008 and 2014 I worked as a massage therapist in the San Francisco Bay area.  My bodywork is a practice of deep listening and compassion while in the presence of another. I trained at the Berkeley Acupressure Institute and Alive and Well, Institute of Conscious Bodywork.  I also studied with Hugh Milne of the Milne Institute for Visionary Craniosacral Work, Christopher Campbell of the Awakening Heart School of Reiki, and the Foundation for Spiritual Development. I volunteered through Institute for Health and Healing, a non-profit organization that provides massage to patients at Marin General Hospital, and also volunteered as a doula in the birthing center at San Francisco General Hospital.

At this time I am primarily providing table sessions utilizing craniosacral therapy, a non-invasive form of bodywork where the client is clothed and lies on the massage table. The touch is typically still, and often at the head, sacrum, or feet.  I incorporate SE into these sessions.  Sometimes sessions are more process oriented (i.e. exploring in a moment-to-moment way what is arising in the body/heart/mind), sometimes these sessions are very quiet and still.  Craniosacral work is a powerful and effective healing modality-- trauma lives in the body tissues and craniosacral work (as does SE) taps into the innate healing capacity of your system to support somatic/emotional freedom and well-being.
