About Michael Gross
An interest in addictions, together with a recognition of the pervasive experience of trauma among LGBTQ individuals, led me to appreciate the reparative power of experiential and expressive approaches to healing.
I am a Board Certified Practitioner of Psychodrama, Sociometry and Group Psychotherapy with training in Psychodramatic Bodywork®. Because Psychodrama and Psychodramatic Bodywork® can quickly activate deep emotion, these methods also may trigger dissociation or overwhelm, especially among individuals who already struggle with emotional regulation or chronic trauma-related health problems. Thus, I was led to Somatic Experiencing in order to gain a deeper understanding of the underlying neurobiology of affect regulation and somatic dysregulation, and to become familiar with the extremely versatile, nuanced, and adaptable set of techniques that SE makes available.
In addition to working with individuals, I am especially interested in implementations of SE in group settings.
