About Nouha Ali Ahmed
I am a Certified Yoga Teacher, Registered Naturotherapist and Somatic Experiencing™ Practitioner.
I began my professional career as a lawyer and worked for nearly ten years in legal counseling, Corporate Communications and Public Relations.
In my mid-twenties, I turned to yoga and meditation to support my daily life, personal development and committed investigation of the body-mind connection. In 2011, I started teaching and studying intensively with Hart Lazer and Donna Read, who remain my primary teachers.
Eager to deepen my understanding of the nervous system and the impact of trauma and dysregulation on the body-mind, I completed the three-year Somatic Experiencing™ Professional Training with the Foundation for Human Enrichment, and then began assisting at the SE™ Professional Training in both Ottawa and Montreal. I've also completed Touch Skills Training for Trauma Therapists with Kathy Kain, with whom I continue to study Somatic Resilience and Regulation: Early Trauma. Currently, my focus is on exploring how early experiences impact our ability for self-regulation, attachment and bonding, therefore shaping our relationships with ourselves and others.
My multidisciplinary approach is primarily aimed at building greater Coherence using yoga asana, mindfulness, Somatic Experiencing™ and SE™ bodywork/touch to support the self-regulation of the physiological and emotional responses.
I have infinite trust in our inner capacity to heal and a deep appreciation for the power of connection. In working with clients, my intention and hope are to support them in connecting with their existing resources so that the healing process may be engaged and allow the change they desire.
