About Jeff Strnad
I offer adults, teens, couples, and families from across the Bay Area safe and effective approaches for addressing a wide variety of conditions and situations.
Somatic Experiencing is a powerful, gentle, and carefully regulated way to address the aftereffects of trauma, including PTSD, from a wide range of sources, including, but not limited to, auto accidents, physical injuries, surgery, anaesthesia, combat, natural disasters, physical abuse, and sexual abuse. Trauma cases are part of my practice, and I often use a course of Somatic Experiencing as part of that work.
Another approach I use heavily is ISTDP (Intensive Short-Term Dynamic Psychotherapy). ISTDP is a strong complement to Somatic Experiencing. The two approaches share some somatic aspects as well as the quality of emphasizing safety by using a graduated yet efficient process, but ISTDP aims more at emotional aspects and at different kinds of “attachment trauma” that emerge from childhood. There is substantial research support for the effectiveness of ISTDP in addressing a wide range of issues, including, but not limited to, depression, anxiety, and physical problems with no apparent medical cause. ISTDP is designed to help people change more quickly and more comprehensively than other therapies.
My office is easily accessible, located in Palo Alto right near the California Avenue train station, with ample parking available.
