About Patricia A Fennelly
Doctoral level clinical psychologist and psychotherapist with 30 years experience working with individuals aged 16 and up who suffer from some form of anxiety and/or depression. Predominant specialty is treatment of Posttraumatic Stress Disorder and relational trauma. Formal training includes cognitive-behavioral methods, interpersonal communications, schema therapy, as well as extensive individual consultation treating complex PTSD and dissociative disorders. My approach with patients is collaborative and engaging; using humor is an important part of what can be very challenging, serious work. A heartfelt laugh goes a long way.
More often than not, I interweave what I have learned from EMDR and Ego State therapy into SE interventions to maximize the benefit. It is exciting, meaningful work, and I am always learning, especially from my patients. I may be an expert on people in general, but YOU are the expert on YOU. You will learn coping strategies and practical, science-based techniques for reducing anxiety that are surprisingly easy and effective. My job overall is to help you find the good stuff in you that is already there. That being said, therapy is not always easy, and it must be at your own pace and with your consent. I always value your feedback on how therapy is going.
The feedback I have received from patients over the years is that my style is more active and responsive than previous therapists. They like that I am flexible, open, non-judgmental and truly interested in them as humanbeings. They also trust that I will be honest giving them feedback and be genuine listening to theirs.
