About Isabelle Lorans
To promote lasting changes, the clinical models that I use integrate your psychological, emotional and physical experience in the moment, as it may be influenced by the past. I am pragmatic and will adapt my approach to your needs, your natural tendencies and strengths.
My specialty is to use your body-mind's natural ability to heal and awareness of your present experience to develop or regain your balance and appreciation of life or to resolve a practical problem. Mindfulness, meditation and attention to a spiritual perspective are part of our work, if that is appealing to you.
I bring to you an extensive professional experience as a Licensed Psychoanalyst, Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Somatic Experiencing Practitioner in the New York City area. Before entering this profession, I worked for a number of years in the business world, giving me insight into what many of my clients experience in their professional life or work. I have also lived in other countries and immigrated to, studied and raised a family in this country.
After my initial training in Gestalt, I trained in trauma and somatic therapies, including Somatic Experiencing (regulation of the nervous system), Bodynamics (psychology in the muscles) and Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR). I practice in three locations: Harrison (Westchester County), Riverdale (Bronx) and the West Village, in English or French.
