About Rik Center

Rik Center is the Co-Founder of the Mindfulness Care Center, SE/Somatic Experiencing Stress and Trauma Counselor/Practitioner, Mindfulness Meditation Teacher, and trained Buddhist/Interfaith Chaplain at San Francisco General Hospital plus a member of the USABP/United States Association For Body Psychotherapy. My private practice focuses on healing high levels of stress, unresolved traumatic anxiety and PTSD that allows for discharge and regulation of the autonomic nervous system along with offering grief and spiritual counseling sessions. I'm a past Resident Graduate of the California Pacific Medical Center CPE/Clinical Pastoral Education Program and Integrative Health & Healing Program. My background also involves training in a variety of physical and emotional bodywork methods and I'm a former Director of a Holistic Healing Arts School. I have been long time meditation practioner since the late 80's and have been a practitioner of the Japanese Martial Art "Kyudo" The Way Of Bow since 1991. I lead a weekly Tuesday Evening open meditation class at the MCC/Mindfulness Care Center.Mindfulness Care Center website: www.mindfulnesscare.orgPersonal website: www.comingintobalance.comOver the past 12 years I've been a community volunteer at the Haight-Ashbury Free Clinic, facilitated a weekly workshop on Mindfulness and Somatic Therapy at the Mary Elizabeth Inn for 2.5 years (the only full time resident home in San Francisco for women who have experienced difficulties in life, addictions, as well as emotional, physical and/or sexual abuse). I've assisted various Somatic Experiencing trainings around the country, plus traveled to the New Orleans/Baton Rogue area in support of people who were reeling from the effects of Hurricane Katrina and Rita. I'm currently a volunteer Chaplain at San Francisco General Hospital concentrating in the Intensive Care Unit and teach a Mindfulness Movement and Mediation Classes in two of the hospital Psych Units. I lead a weekly meditation for staff, patients and visitors at the hospital and am a member of the Hospital Wellness Center Committee.Additionally, I continue to attend advance trainings with Peter Levine the founder of Somatic Experiencing ® and completed the Advanced "Eye Of The Needle Training" working on near death states.
