About Daniel Johnson
Over the past few years I have been looking back more closely at my early years to understand what is behind the habitual responses that keep showing up in disruptive ways particularly in my relationships. I was born in London into a turbulent dysfunctional family. My mum suffered from repeated episodes of intense fury and violent emotion which culminated in her taking her own life when I was 5. My dad also suffered from depression and would withdraw to paint or sleep.
What I learned way back then were ways to keep myself safe in an environment that felt anything but. I discovered that if I was helpful, good, compliant, didn't fuss, was capable and responsible, the adults around me appreciated me, noticed me, loved me. And that felt good, better than worrying about my mum - was she sad or angry, my dad - was he sad or .. or what, and my younger brother - was he hungry or wet?
SE has helped me to understand, gently unravel and lay to rest, some of the patterns of behaviour and the ways of relating that have dogged me for years and have no place now. It has also given me insight into my parents, born into wartime Britain, my mother subjected to the nightly bombing of London's East End. That has helped me find compassion and tenderness for their unspoken suffering.
What I offer as an SE practitioner is my life experience, and a range of skills garnered through an eclectic explolration, spanning business coaching and mentoring, body work, movement practices, meditation and spiritual inquiry.
I have a private practice at my home in the countryside. Also, with my wife Kate, we work with couples - as a couple - Check out our website here: https://consciouscoupleswork.com . I also run monthly Detox Retreats in the beautiful Devon countryside, here: http://suradetox.co.uk where people who recognise that they need to hit the pause button on life, stop, rest, relax deeply and come back to a sense of themselves.
