About Sherri Sharkins, MA, SEP
Welcome! I have been providing Somatic Experiencing sessions for more than 10 years, specializing in the treatment of complex and developmental trauma. I also serve as an assistant teacher for the Somatic Experiencing Professional Training Program and I am an approved session provider. I currently practice in Sedona AZ and Prescott AZ and offer sessions via video conferencing (via Skype and Zoom).
I have a masters degree in counseling psychology with an emphasis in depth psychology from Pacifica Graduate Institute. I am also certified in the NeuroAffective Relational Model (NARM), a therapeutic modality that focuses on the resolution of developmental trauma and serve on the teaching team for NARM trainings. In addition, I have studied Diane Poole Heller's Dynamic Attachment Re-patterning experience (DARe). Previous to entering the field of counseling, I explored the mind-body connection for many years: I am a certified yoga teacher and have been practicing yoga and Vipassana meditation for 25 years.
For the last six years, I have worked in addiction treatment centers as a primary therapist and trauma resolution specialist, treating clients suffering from complex trauma, PTSD, anxiety, depression, eating disorders, codependency, chemical dependency, and gambling addiction. I would be happy to answer any questions you may have regarding SE, the resolution of trauma, or my practice. I look forward to connecting and supporting you on your journey!
