About Frederique Georges, MA, MFT, SEP
As an MFT and a Somatic Experiencing Practitioner, I work with a unique blend of traditional psychotherapy and a felt sense approach. I use a variety of modalities (psychodynamics/early attachment theories/ experiential/transpersonal) with body awareness: this complex array of tools allows for more flexibility in the healing process. When one modality comes short, another one picks up and we work through the “stuckness”. Adding Somatic Experiencing to traditional psychotherapeutic methodology is like doing therapy in 3D.
My specialty is in the renegotiation and the resolution of overwhelming traumatic experience that happened “too fast, too much, too soon” and that have caused debilitating symptoms of anxiety, depression, stress and loss. With the somatic experiencing method I guide my clients into self-regulating the emotions that have become unmanageable and the nervous system that has been shocked. I am ready to explore how difficult events manifest in the body and I am committed to restore optimal functioning with my clients.
Attachment issues (which point to the relationship between children and their caregivers, what we call Developmental) have always been the focus of my work. My current trainings include the Bodynamic System (attachment at its finest, using muscles as a resource) and implementing Raja Selvam’s Integral Somatic Psychotherapy, which allows for a deeper felt sense of emotions using the physical body and the “energy” body. I continue to educate myself to stay ahead of the latest SE developments. I have done the Eye of the Needle (Near Death Experience) training. I am also actively pursuing trainings with Kathy Kain and Stephen Terrell who target Early Trauma and regulation most exclusively. I can now offer Touch Therapy in my office and working with a table when needed is a wonderful tool to achieve regulation. By addressing First Brain injury (trauma) and Second Brain wounding (developmental), we cover most of the bases.

I am eager to work with the full spectrum of life issues that occur at all ages. I welcome immigrants and war vets.
I am now an American citizen, but I came to this country 30 years ago and still consider myself as an immigrant. I grew up under the cloud of WWI and WWII since two generations before me had to suffer the trauma of war.
I am French speaking.
