About Amy C. Nicholson

It was through spontaneous "discharge" of trauma in indigenous healing & Vipassana meditation that led me to Peter Levine's work and the practice of Somatic Experiencing. What I have learned in my own process of healing is that when the body is ready, it will let go and heal. However, this can be a pretty scary process if an individual does not know what is happening in the nervous system. SE is the perfect resource and method for gently supporting the body mind integration and healing of trauma. The end result is a more resilient and present life expression. In my professional life, I have served as the program director and faculty of the Therapeutic Massage Program at Madison College since 2005 where I am also adjunct faculty member for the School for International Education.

I have a master's degree in clinical mental health counseling from the Univeristy of Wisconsin-Whitewater and have completed hundreds of hours of continuing education in bodywork and energy medicine modalities.  Most recently, I have completed Diane Poole-Heller's Attachment Mastery course.

In addition to the categories and populations listed above, my specific interests in SE are concerned with the biopsychosocial facets of health related issues and illness, specifically chronic pain. I am also very interested in supporting individuals with ADHD, and educational trauma and issues in regard to attachment.
