About Lori A Parker
Lori A. Parker, Founder of the Embodied Mindfulness Method™, is a Certified Feldenkrais Practitioner as well as a Somatic Experiencing Practitioner. The Feldenkrais Method, like Somatic Experiencing, is an awareness based educational model rather than a physical therapeutic model. The Feldenkrais Method focuses on two components of the SIBAM model used in Somatic Experiencing: Sensation and Behavior (i.e., movement).
Dr. Parker integrates the SE method into her Feldenkrais sessions as the need arises. She also offers individual sessions based exclusively on the SE model.
Dr. Parker has particular interest in early developmental shock trauma (where re-education of the sensory-motor system is of extreme importance). She has also worked extensively with clients that suffer from Chronic Pain Syndromes.
She is the author of "Shock Trauma, ANS Dysfunction, and Autoimmune Disorders: What's The Connection?" and "Polyvagal Theory: What Is It And Why Should We Care?"
Dr. Parker has also completed (2) Post Advanced Courses: Touch Skills Training with Kathy Kain and Depression, Aggression, Breath, & Triumph with Dr. Peter Levine. Additionally she has extensive experience working with Adaptive Styles. To read more about her work in this area you can go to this portion of her website:
